Teenager, 18, falls from ute in Victoria as police search for driver

A hunt is underway for the driver of a ute after a teenag boy fell from the back of the vehicle in regional Victoria.

A teen who fell from the back of a moving ute has been seriously injured as police search for the driver.

The 18-year-old was standing in the tray of the ute as it headed south along Heales Street at Talbot, near Ballarat, just after midnight on Saturday.

The Maryborough man fell off the tray and passers-by rushed to the scene before paramedics arrived, Victoria Police said.

He was flown to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

But police are searching for the driver of the ute who did not stop at the scene.

The car is believed to be a dual cab with a steel tray and no sides.

Investigators have urged anyone with information to contact police.
