Man fatally stabbed at Ascot Vale in Melbourne

A man has been arrested after another man was fatally stabbed in an inner-city suburb overnight.

A man has been stabbed to death in Melbourne’s inner suburbs overnight.

Police were called to a home on Churchill Ave, Ascot Vale in the city’s northwest at about 4am on Saturday.

“Officers arrived on scene to discover a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

The man died at the scene, and has not yet been formally identified.

A second man was arrested at the property.

“It appears at this stage, the people involved are known to each other,” a statement from Victoria Police said.

Police have set up a crime scene and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators are focused on an upstairs apartment in a low-rise block of flats.

Forensics officers were seen at the apartment on Saturday morning.
