THE sixth victim of the Bourke St car rampage was a finance consultant at Deloitte whose death has shattered her family and friends.
Bhavita Patel was walking back to her Deloitte office near Bourke St when she was hit by the car on January 20. Doctors frantically tried to save the 33-year-old, but she was unresponsive on life support.
Her devastated family made the decision to turn off her life support and she died about 7.30pm on Monday.
Friends have taken to Facebook to leave messages for Ms Patel. One urged those closest to her to “stay strong”.
“You were a brave heart. Such a loss to family … Our prayers are with you.”
Her brother Mitesh Patel told Herald Sun he couldn’t believe he would never see her again.
“My parents and I are broken. But we all appreciate the love we’re getting from people,” he said.
Further charges are now expected to be laid against the alleged car driver Dimitrious “Jimmy” Gargasoulas, who is already facing five counts of murder.
Ms Patel studied at the Australian National University in Canberra and worked as an accountant and adviser in the capital before moving to Melbourne to work with the Victorian Government.
