A cafe in Melbourne’s suburbs has been violently rammed by a 4WD and set alight in what police believe was a targeted attack.
A 4WD has been rammed into a cafe in Melbourne’s west and set alight in what police believe was a targeted attack.
A four-door Isuzu crashed through bollards into the corner of the building housing the Wolf Cafe and Eatery on Lobelia Drive in Altona North.
Police say the wreckage was then set on fire, scorching the eatery.
“Investigators have been told a grey utility was driven into the front of the Lobelia Drive premises about 4am (on Saturday),” a police spokesperson said.
“The car was then set on fire before unknown offender/s fled the scene.
“Nobody was inside the business, which suffered significant damage.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined however investigators are treating it as targeted.”
The business is in an industrial area and commercial area of the suburb of Altona North, 11km from the CBD.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
