Sturt police station closes after cracks found in building

The Sturt police station has been closed until further notice after cracks were found in the building, with front counter services now operating out of a vehicle in the car park.

The Sturt police station has been evacuated after cracks were found in the building overnight.

Officers at the station on Sturt Rd in Bedford Park heard a rumble and saw what appeared to be structural movement in the western end of the building on Tuesday night.

No one was injured and there were no prisoners or members of the public at the station at the time.

The building is closed as a precaution and will be inspected before reopening.

Patrols are working from neighbouring stations while front counter services are available from staff in the police operations vehicle in the car park.
