Superloop Adelaide 500 road closures continue amid heatwave conditions

Road closures for the Adelaide 500 caused major traffic delays this morning amid hot weather, but at least it's the "coolest" day of the heatwave.

A maximum temperature of 36C is forecast in Adelaide today, following Monday's high of 37.3C.

The heat then continued throughout the night, hardly dropping below 22C until just before 6am today.

Looking forward to the rest of the week, until Sunday, the temperature is set to be 37C or above.

Compounding the heat-related issues, many major roads in the eastern parts of the city are either closed or restricted.

Police are on site, however, to direct traffic through the Britannia Roundabout, which is reportedly easing some congestion.
