Police search Belair National Park for missing Blackwood man Nicholas Lees
Police are searching Belair National Park for Nicholas Lees, who has been missing for the past two weeks.
The sister of a missing Blackwood man has made a heartfelt public appeal for information as to his whereabouts.
It came as police launched a search of Belair National Park in the hope of finding 60-year-old Nicholas Lees.
Sarah Hudson said her family was “extremely worried” about her younger brother, who vanished more than two weeks ago.
“We just hope that someone, somewhere has seen him or might have some information that will help police with their investigations,” she said.
“Nick is a very gentle and kind person, very vulnerable at the moment, so if you do see him please don’t be afraid to approach him.
“Nick, if you are out there somewhere, please call the police and come home - We all love you and miss you.”
Police converged on Belair National Park on Monday morning to scour the area for Mr Lees or any clues that might lead them to him.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Fitzgerald, from the Southern District Criminal Investigation Branch, said Mr Lees was last seen at Blackwood on August 30 and police were concerned for his safety and welfare.
“There is no information that we have at the moment as to where he has been (since) that time,” he said.
Detective Chief Inspector Fitzgerald said police were searching the park because, as a local, Mr Lees would likely visit it.
“What we’re after today is for Nicholas to come forward and speak to police or family,” he said.
“Also, if anyone else has information as to where Nicholas is it has been, (They should) contact police on Crime Stoppers.”
Detective Chief Inspector Fitzgerald said there were “no indications of foul play at this time”.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mr Lees is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
