LITTLE Rocky has been reunited with his owners, after he went missing down a Mansfield Park stormwater drain last week.

LITTLE Rocky has been reunited with his owners, after he went missing down a Mansfield Park stormwater drain last week.

The six-year-old Jack Russell was rescued by the RSPCA on ­August 13 after locals heard barking coming from the 1m deep drain on Medika Blvd.

The furry fella was taken to the RSPCA but his microchip could not be read by scanners, prompting a call out on advertiser.com.au for his owners to claim him.

Rocky's owner Moey ­Motairy, spotted his pet on the RSPCA's Facebook page, ending an anxious 96 hours during which he thought he had lost his canine buddy for good.

"I'm so relieved, it has been so quiet without him because he is such a sociable dog,'' Mr Motairy said. "My German Shepherd (Ruby) has been miserable without him because they get along so well."

Mr Motairy, 25, had been walking Rocky off-leash on August 13 when the dog chased a cat down the drain.

Mr Motairy spent the next half an hour waiting for Rocky to surface from the drain. After he failed to come out, Mr Motairy searched a nearby drain, where a man told him he had seen Rocky exit and run down the street.

RSPCA rescue officer Soraya Megaw, who helped save Rocky from the storm drain, said she was thrilled to see Rocky home safe, adding it was a good reminder for pet owners to have their vet check that their pet's microchip is still detectable.
