A man will not be able to drive again for a year after he was seen by paramedics towing a trailer through Parafield Gardens — the problem? He was drunk. And his trailer was on its side ... and on fire.

A man who was nearly six times over the legal blood alcohol limit has been banned from driving for a year when he was caught towing a trailer which was on its side ... and on fire.

The man caught the eye of an ambulance crew on Kings Rd at about 4am on Sunday.

Paramedics noticed the trailer was being dragged on its side. It was also on fire and had been towed in that fashion more than two kilometres.

They flagged down the 32-year-old man before MFS crews moved in to extinguish the blaze — which began when a diesel fuel container caught fire.

No one was injured.

SA Police tested the Parafield Garden man’s blood alcohol level and he returned a reading of 0.294.

He was reported for driving drunk, was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
