Drink driver caught at Prospect with blood-alcohol level of 0.315 – more than six times the limit
A driver pulled over at Prospect on Monday morning was more than six times over the limit, infuriating police.
A driver put other road users’ lives at risk when he made an “appalling” decision to get behind the wheel of a car while more than six times the blood-alcohol limit, police say.
Officers pulled over a red Hyundai sedan on Regency Rd at Prospect about 8.35am Monday.
Police will allege the driver, a 45-year-old Prospect man, returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.315 – more than six times the 0.05 drink-drive limit.
The man immediately lost his licence for 12 months and his car was impounded for 28 days.
He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
“Police are appalled this man made the decision to drive while six times over the legal limit during peak-hour traffic, putting not only himself but all road users lives at risk,” a police spokeswoman said.
“Drink-driving is one of the major contributing factors in serious and fatal collisions.”
