Adut’s in Vogue and on the cover
VOGUE Australia’s chosen South Sudanese South Australian supermodel Adut Akech to be on the cover of its December issue.
VOGUE Australia has chosen South Sudanese-South Australian supermodel Adut Akech as their December issue cover girl.
It’s yet another first for Adut, who came here as a child refugee from Africa.
She is now on the cusp of becoming the world’s top model after her most successful year yet on the international fashion scene.
The Andrews Farm teenager, now based in New York, turns 19 on Christmas Day.
Discovered by Chadwick Models in 2016, she has enjoyed a meteoric rise and was recently named among the global fashion industry’s 500 most influential people, one of eight Aussies to make Business of Fashion’s annual power list.
In August, she returned to Adelaide for a Vogue Australia photoshoot in the northern suburbs where she grew up.
The images, which are top secret until the magazine goes on sale, showcase haute couture from top fashion houses such as Dior and Valentino.
“We wanted to juxtapose where she is now in the fashion world – the top of the top – with her really humble and wholesome beginnings, and do that in a fun and entertaining way,” said Vogue Australia’s Edwina McCann.
