Woman found dead in Burwood unit told friends she wanted to leave partner

The friends of a young woman found dead in a Sydney unit in a suspected murder suicide have revealed a sad detail about the victim.

Man arrested for alleged serious domestic violence

A woman found stabbed to death in a Sydney unit told friends she wanted to leave her boyfriend days before she was killed.

The 21-year-old Chinese university student was discovered dead on Monday in a Burwood apartment on Conder Street, where she lived with her partner, who was also 21.

His body was found in a courtyard below the unit complex. Police suspect the incident may be a murder-suicide, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The publication was told the woman informed friends last weekend she intended to leave her partner.

There was no domestic violence or criminal history between the pair, NSW police said.

A friend of the dead woman was interviewed by police on Monday night and told them the woman planned to leave her partner and informed him of her decision recently.

CCTV inside the unit complex showed the pair having a verbal alteration in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police believe the woman was stabbed by her partner inside the home before 9.30am that day. The pair shared their unit with a flatmate, who was not home at the time.

The man then jumped to his death from the balcony, police believe.

A resident of the building found the man’s body.

Police are investigating if the woman was sexually assaulted before her death.

A post-mortem is expected to be carried out on both bodes this week.
