‘My boyfriend slept with his dying friend as her final wish’

A woman said she’s a “jealous” wreck after her boyfriend granted a terminally-ill friend her “final wish” and slept with her.

A woman said she was an emotional wreck after her boyfriend granted a dying female friend her “final wish” and slept with her.

The 22-year-old, who shared the dilemma on Reddit, only found out about the tryst after the terminally-ill woman had died and was told by a mutual friend.

“We were together when it happened. He’s still depressed about her death. I feel jealous and I don’t know what to do,” she wrote.

“My boyfriend and the girl did it when they were on vacation with other friends. She had a terminal illness and is dead now. I’m confident that he was never attracted to her. They never had a relationship beyond that. She did have a secret crush on him though. She was the little sister of their friend group. This incident happened late Nov (sic) or December 2021. She died in March 2022.”

She said that her boyfriend had struggled with his mental health since the girl’s death.

“I hate myself because I get angry inside whenever he mentions her. I can’t express my jealousy because she’s dead anyway,” she added.

“This jealousy is eating me up. I just know that it wasn’t just f**king. They totally had emotional sex because of her condition. I don’t even know who initiated it. It was probably something like how she didn’t want to die a virgin. My boyfriend and I had never end had sex all the way then. To clarify, he didn’t lose his virginity to her but she did lose her virginity to him.”

The woman added the couple “have an otherwise perfect relationship”.

“[But] I don’t know if I can talk to him about this. I don’t want to push him to the brink … I’m also afraid that he might be dismissive of my feelings.”

Hundreds jumped into the thread’s comments, with many saying that her boyfriend should still not have slept with his friend despite the tragic circumstances.

“I would do a lot of things for a dying friend’s last request but disrespecting my relationship and cheating, to give them one last thrill, is out of the question,” one wrote.

“I’m a dude and even I know this is bullsh*t,” a second commented.

While a third said, “He did cheat on you with the dying girl though. What is worse is he never even told you. Sorry, no excuses for a cheat.”

Others suggested the couple “sit down and talk” – possibly with a professional to mediate the discussion.

“You guys need to sit down and talk. When you are done, talk some more. Finished talking?” they said.

“Find a third person (a real person, not Reddit), and talk with them as a counsellor.”
