Single woman walks round NYC with ‘Looking for a husband’ sign

After being single for two years, Karolina Geits took matters into her own hands – and her bold bid at finding love appears to have paid off.

A model has taken her hunt for a husband up a notch, parading through a New York City with a large sign denoting her mission.

Karolina Geits has been single for two years, but after finding it hard to meet a decent guy the traditional way, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

Instead of wasting away hours at a bar, hoping to strike up a meaningful conversation with an available guy, Ms Geits hatched a plan to get ahead in the “blood sport” that is modern dating.

“I decided to make a sign that says ‘Looking for a husband’ and walk around the city to see if that would work,” the 29-year-old beauty influencer told the New York Post.

Ms Geits said she hit the streets with her cardboard billboard after months of matching with noncommittal men on dating apps.

“I believe that if I make an actual sign for anything I want — a husband, a Birkin, Chanel the universe will see it and send me exactly what I want,” she added.

The 175cm brunette, a native of South Asia who relocated to the US in 2017, reeled in more than 8 million TikTok views after sharing footage taken during her most recent husband hunt.

“I think I got one,” she captioned the video.

In the trending clip, shared Monday, Ms Geits is seen strutting around downtown in a bright handkerchief top and hip-hugging jeans, waving her handwritten poster in the air, trusting that a dream lover — and handsome hunk with a beautiful soul — will miraculously appear.

And he did.

“I exchanged numbers with one of the guys in the video — we’ve been talking for the past few days,” she told the publication, noting that it took her just 30 minutes of parading before she met a man.

“We’re just getting to know each other,” she added. “It’s still new, but we’ll see where things go.”

Many social media users praised the unusual technique, calling it “genius” and arguing it was likely “safer than the apps”.

“Making my sign tonight! T‍️here’s now hope for us singles in the world,” one stated.

“AT THIS POINT. this don’t seem to bad,” another reasoned.

“So this what I gotta do for my man to find me?” one woman scoffed.

Her law-of-attraction approach at love is just one of many unorthodox man-snagging techniques currently going viral.

The “fake engagement ring” trend has women manifesting soulmates by donning faux diamond rings — and Los Angeles lawyer Eve Tilley-Coulson, 35, went so far as to publicly offer a $US 5000 (approximately $AU 7850) reward to anyone who introduces her to the man she’ll eventually marry.

“Most of the men on apps aren’t swiping to seriously date,” Tilley-Coulson told The New York Post in July.

“I feel like paying $5,000 for a husband who’s vouched for, meets my needs and is ready for a real relationship is totally worth it.”

Meanwhile, Ms Geits said her cheeky measures were also definitely worthwhile.

“I am glad that I met someone, but I’m more proud of myself for stepping outside of my comfort zone,” she said. “I want a family, I’m ready for love and I don’t have time to waste.”
