‘Not breaking up’: Confusion as boyfriend moves out

A 26-year-old has detailed what’s next for her live-in boyfriend, but despite insisting they’re “not breaking up”, others aren’t convinced.

Couple stay together despite boyfriend moving out

A glimpse into a couple’s new living situation has set alarm bells off on social media.

Maiah Police, 26, has been with her boyfriend for three-and-a-half years, with the young couple currently living together in a shared apartment.

However, Ms Police recently revealed her 24-year-old partner would be moving out, but insisted the pair weren’t going their separate ways.

“We’re not breaking up, this is just a new phase of life for us,” Ms Police said in a video, before explaining why her boyfriend was leaving their shared home.

“He’s always dreamt of living with his brother, so who am I to get in the way of that?”

She also said that just because they lived together now didn’t mean they had to do so until marriage, but stressed they would move back in together at a later stage.

“Don’t get me wrong, when he first told me the idea I was like ‘Hmm, what the f**k’. As I thought more about it, I realised it was a great idea,” she said.

She added she was very particular and had sleeping issues, and now coming together would be more intentional time.

The TikTok video quickly went viral, racking up more than 7 million views to date as well as 14,000 comments.

Many viewers were unable to wrap their head around the notion a couple could move in with others and stay together, believing it is a sign of the end of times.

“Ladies, compose yourselves and let her do her thing. It’s a canon event and we can’t interfere,” one social media user said.

Another said: “This is a good thing, you are so young. But this is absolutely the first steps of a break up. And that’s okay.”

“He wants to be all moved out before he breaks up with you so he doesn’t have to deal with the drama of moving after,” another said.

One added: “This is a sign and you should listen. He’s telling you without telling you.”

“Ma’am what do you mean ALWAYS wanted to live together, like didn’t they LIVE together majority of their lives,” another said.

Another joked he was handing his two weeks notice in.

There were also countless people responding with their own videos, weighing in on why “this will never work”.

“He’s never moving back in,” one lamented.

Ms Police has taken the backlash pretty well, making videos mocking the comments she has received.

She’s also shared a “pros and cons” list to living with a partner that included “splitting rent” as a benefit of sharing a home while a negative was “it’s harder to have me time”.
