Guest wears white to wedding, sparking confusion over ‘real’ bride

A video showing two women wearing white gowns at a wedding has angered many, as people struggled to identify the “real” bride.

Outrage as guest wears white dress to wedding

A wedding planner has shared a video of a guest wearing white to a reception she organised, declaring it’s “not okay” to wear the marital colour on someone else’s big day.

Cari Izaguirre discussed the unspoken rules of “wedding etiquette” after organising a celebration for a client where four different guests crossed a line with their outfit choices.

While a couple were borderline, choosing to wear light colours such as pale pink dress and ivory, there was one woman who Cari claimed was “wearing a wedding dress”.

“Who is she? Apparently her husband works with the groom, but you don’t wear that. You don’t,” she argues in a video that has since gone viral.

She then pans the camera to show another guest wearing a “light pink” dress, which Cari said “in pictures is going to look white”.

A third offending guest opted to wear a “beige jacket”, which Cari argued “wasn’t too bad”, but still said “you just don’t do that”.

In a follow up video, that appears to have been deleted by Cari but picked up by another TikTok account, the wedding planner shows footage of the guest dancing.

She said many were confused over who the “real” bride was, stating: “Did you guys think that was the bride?”

The camera then pans to the real bride dancing just a few steps away wearing a strikingly similar lace, white gown.

The clip, which was re-shared by Jessica Bailey Hassan, has quickly attracted anger online as many declare the outfit “unacceptable”.

“That looks like an actual wedding dress, floored me,” one user commented.

“Looks like a wedding dress for sure,” someone else said.

“I gasped,” one woman stated, as another added: “How do people not know the rule about white?”

One person raged: “It’s just a DON’T!”

“I would ask them to go change,” another shared, as others suggested the woman should be “embarrassed” by her outfit choice.

However, there were some who condemned Cari’s actions, stating it was “unprofessional” to record a client’s guests – even though she concealed their identities.

“I feel I’d be more mortified that my wedding planner recorded my guest and blasted them on social media,” one scoffed.

“This reaction to a white dress is wild. Ask them to change if it bothers you so much,” someone else mused.

Mostly though, the sentiment shared was one of sympathy for the bride, with many stating it likely “ruined” her special day – with many claiming they would “spill red wine” on the white dress offender.

Wearing white to someone else’s big day has been widely debated in the past, with most arguing it is “unacceptable”.

A guest who wore a white crop top with billowing sleeves that flashed her midriff, paired with a matching white skirt to a friend’s nuptials in July went viral after many claimed she’d done the unforgivable.

Lana Kaufman was forced to respond after another guest shared a video of her outfit on TikTok which clocked up 14 million views, claiming she “picked white from four dress code colours”.

But regardless of the bride’s apparent permissions, social media users weren’t having a bar of it, stating it was “insane” to wear white to a wedding.
