Couple’s ‘pathetic’ wedding meal causes furious debate
An unimpressed wedding guest who took to Facebook to mock the “pathetic” food offerings has had the tables turned on them.
A couple’s wedding day spread has been branded “pathetic” after a photo of the food was leaked by a guest to a wedding shaming group.
Included in the catering were slices of unwrapped “plastic cheese”, cut up oranges and squares of a chocolate cake adorned with a lemon lolly.
But while the disgruntled guest was hoping to receive support over the basic meal, the rant sensationally backfired.
When the post went viral, many leapt to defence of the happy couple, calling out the “cruel” friend who ridiculed their wedding day meal.
Why worries about fancy food when you are there to witness important thing ... Marriage. Whoever took pictures & others with negative comments ... youâre very judgmental, snobbish, & miserable. No wonder World is a mess, because of people like you.

What kind of friends are these? You are invited to a wedding to share in the couples happiness. If that is what they could afford or for whatever the reason that is what they served IT IS FINE. Weddings are not meant to be fancy restaurants.

Whoever posted this is so arrogant, they are not a friend at all, would not want them at my wedding.

Weddings Used to be a Celebration of love and life! Not a competition over material things or appetizers! Maybe weddings should scale back and have the Ceremony and Dessert and send all these back stabbing guests home! (Not your Day, Not your Choices!)

Iâll eat this! Invite me! Whatâs wrong with it? Who ever thinks that this is âpreposterousâ are the same people that will go to an âexpensive weddingâ drink there expensive wines, talk shit and stuff there botched faces while âmaybeâ bringing a gift. SMH

So rude of you. Did you go to the wedding just for a gourmet feast or to celebrate the marriage of people you care about? Really disgraceful of you and I can't imagine how the couple feels.

The bride and groom’s humble wedding meal had initially been savagely mocked online.
“A wedding feast for your eyes,” the guest captioned the images according to a report by Fox News.
It didn’t take long for people in the wedding shaming group to brand the food “pathetic”, stating it looked more like a toddler’s birthday party than a wedding reception.
“This is basically what we served at my three-year-old’s birthday party. Except we had quiche and strawberries,” one commenter wrote.
“This makes more sense for toddlers than a wedding, in my humble opinion,” another added.
“This looks like a catering spread for work — a low budget one,” one person reportedly wrote.
“They took the time to unwrap hundreds of slices of fake cheese but couldn’t be bothered to take the sticker off the fruit?” another questioned.
According to Wedded Wonderland, the cost of a Australian wedding has steadily increased over the past two years, now coming in at $53,168 in 2019, which is a 3.75 per cent increase from last year.
What do you think of the humble wedding spread? Do you agree it was “pathetic” or do you believe weddings have lost their true meaning? Let us know in the comments below.
