An ABC journalist has tied the knot wearing an unconventional dress, delighting guests – including famous faces Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic.

An award-winning ABC journalist has delighted guests, wearing a stunning yet unconventional wedding dress as she tied the knot over the weekend.

Grace Tobin married Tom Hartley, senior journalist at 7 News Sydney, in an small outdoor Brisbane ceremony, surrounded by friends and loved ones – including Today Extra host Sylvia Jeffreys and her husband Sky News journalist Peter Stefanovic.

But instead of wearing a traditional gown, the bride wore a silk mini-dress for her wedding day from Brisbane designer Carniel Vandenbergh Couture, which featured an A-line skirt and puffed sleeves.

She accessorised with pointed white heels featuring silver stone detailing on the front, and wore her blonde hair in loose waves.

Beside her, Tobin’s new husband wore more traditional wedding attire, looking suave in a three piece green suit made by Sydney-based tailors Olivieri Tailoring.

Online, the bride’s followers were quick to gush over her unusual wedding gown, with fans calling it “stunning” and “beautiful”.

Wedding guests also shared their congratulations for the happy couple.

“The beaming bride + groom. Thank you for sharing your magical day with us,” Jeffreys wrote alongside a collection of wedding day snaps on Instagram. “It was simply the best.”

Meanwhile, 9 News Perth reporter Tracy Vo said: “Congratulations [Grace and Tom]. Stunning!”

“Perfection. I think Grace is one of this nation’s most talented journalists. Wishing the both of them so much love and happiness,” one social media user said.

Tobin got her start as a journalist in 2009 while working as a crime reporter in regional Queensland for Channel 9.

She was awarded a Walkley in 2017 for a 60 Minutes report on the death of Matthew Levenson.

Tobin, who became close with Matthew’s parents, later wrote a book, Deal With The Devil: The Death of Matthew Levenson, which was published in 2018.

It detailed the family’s ordeal after Matthew disappeared after a night out in Sydney in 2007, as they tirelessly pursued the man they believed was responsible for his death.

Tobin currently works for the ABC’s Four Corners program.
