Woman’s boyfriend mistaken for her dad due to 29-year age gap

A couple with a 29-year-age gap who boast they have “lots of sex” have said their relationship often leaves strangers “confused”.

It wasn’t love at first sight for Kayla Caudill and Stephen Dunn, who met in May last year when the 51-year-old pierced the 23-year-old receptionist’s belly button.

During the appointment, Kayla and Stephen – who were both in relationships at the time – exchanged conversation and a friendship soon formed.

Stephen and Kayla, from the US state of Georgia, weren’t completely happy in their previous relationships and as the friendship grew, the duo felt there was “something special there”.

One month after the fateful piercing appointment, Kayla had ended her marriage while Stephen also left his partner so the pair could pursue their growing feelings for one another.

“I thought he was so charismatic, handsome, and attentive. He thought I was kind and liked how I listened when he spoke. There was no denying our connection,” Kayla said.

‘I HAD TO HAVE HIM’

“We both left everything we knew, everything we had built in our separate lives, for each other. It was crazy. I knew I had to have him. He was everything I had wanted in someone.

“The odds were not in our favour, but we knew we loved each other because we had to fight for our love.

“We had to fight to be together. And no matter what we faced, it never broke us.”

While they have a “gap in maturity” the couple don’t find the 29 year age difference a hurdle in their romance.

“I don’t have as much life experience as him but I have been through a lot,” Kayla said.

“He teaches me about life and I learn. I’m more mature than my age labels me as and it works to my advantage.

“If I acted my age, we would not be together. I label myself as a forty-three-year-old in a twenty-three-year-old’s body.”

‘IS THAT YOUR DAUGHTER?’

The couple’s relationship works because they have fun together and “lots of sex”.

“We make each other laugh. We get another chance to really experience what love is supposed to be like. We help each other heal from past trauma in relationships and we have lots of sex,” Kayla said.

“It sounds crazy but it was something we’ve both lacked in previous relationships.

“The most difficult thing is people. We understand that there are those that won’t be understanding, those that are angry and hurt from our choice to be together, but at the end of the day we chose each other and we’d do it over and over again.”

But the couple’s age gap means that people are sometimes confused about the nature of their relationship when they first meet them.

We get asked, ‘Is that your daughter?’ We love making others stare leaving them confused,” Kayla said, with reports adding she often has to explain “ he’s not my dad ”.

“It’s like comedic relief for us. We honestly need our own reality TV show because I think others would love some mindless entertainment that we call everyday life.”

MY DAD DISOWNED ME OVER ROMANCE: KAYLA

Despite the love they have for each other Kayla and Stephen have faced opposition from their families.

“My family has been a little more accepting than his except from my biological father,” she said. “He has basically disowned me because he is simple minded and doesn’t agree with it.

“Stephen left a long-term relationship with children involved.”

Stephen’s family “struggles to understand” why he is with someone so much younger than him, Kayla said.

“I’m not allowed to be involved with them which is hard because I want to have a life with him and they are a big part of his life,” Kayla said.

“His family also struggles to understand his choices but they’ve never met me, and they live far away so I don’t expect them to understand.

“Either way, they are supportive of him and his happiness which is of utmost importance.”
