Abbie Chatfield’s surprising admission about beau Konrad Bien-Stephens

Abbie Chatfield has spilled on her relationship with Bachelorette star Konrad Bien-Stephens in the aftermath of her feud with Brooke Blurton.

Abbie Chatfield debuts new relationship

Abbie Chatfield and Bachelorette star Konrad Bien-Stephens’ romance is going so strong there could be wedding bells in the near future.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential on Sunday, Abbie, 26, revealed she “hopes” of marrying boyfriend Konrad who is set to introduce her to his family this week.

“I think so, I hope so,” she told the publication when asked about the prospect of marriage.

The Bachelorette star said that while she has dated “a lot of people” in the last two years, she never “really had anything like this before”.

“I’m going to Melbourne for a week to meet his family next week. We’re going from zero to 100, he’s coming to family Christmas.”

However, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the pair who met through a mutual friend last month.

Abbie’s former best friend and Bachelorette star, Brooke Blurton, slammed the pair on social media following their relationship debut.

Brooke and Konrad formed a romance on the show, but she eliminated him ahead of the finale and then months later, Abbie began dating him.

However, before the show aired, photos of Abbie kissing the Melbourne carpenter at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay were made public — with Brooke accusing the couple of ruining the show.

“I’m not a hostile person and literally do not have any hate in my heart. I put my heart and soul into (the show). Not only that but for what it meant for the LGBTQIA+ and First Nations community to have that display of representation,” Blurton wrote on Instagram, addressing the matter.

“Which moves onto my new point. The hardest point. For that to be tainted ONCE again by 1. To someone I thought was a close friend. 2. Another white woman displaying what white privilege looks like. 3. A very clear display of narcissism. Hurts me. Literally pains me.

“I’ve reached out to this person to resolve this ‘conflict’ which in fact, classic naive me, adult me went to this person to communicate openly about the layers of complexity that this persons actions show and take away from NOT only me but what it meant for a queer woman of colour. ”Blurton finished: “You guys asked for my comment. There it is. Now go give them more airtime in which is what this is exactly about.”

Responding on Instagram last Thursday, Abbie wrote that she was “sorry” and that she hadn’t taken into account “the inherent privilege that I hold as a white woman”.

“A month ago, a video of Konrad and I kissing was secretly captured by a patron and made public,” she said.

“Following this, Brooke and I had a conversation in which I apologised and expressed regret multiple times for our public affection as this was prior to Konrad’s exit from the show. Konrad had a similar conversation with Brooke.

“We met as a result of him coming along to a catch up with a mutual friend, the public setting was an accident. We absolutely should have waited to be in private as we are public figures and these are things we need to consider, but we didn’t. We also didn’t consider the possible ramifications of our actions.”

Abbie went on to say she now “understands the timing of publicly sharing our relationship should have been more considered and that is my fault”.

“I acknowledge that impact outweighs intent.”

Referencing Brooke’s comment about “another white woman displaying what white privilege looks like”, Abbie said she “didn’t take into account … the inherent privilege that I hold as a white woman”.

“My actions had the potential to undermine the importance that this pivotal season of The Bachelorette holds to the First Nations and LGBTQIA+ Communities. This is an extremely important conversation to be having,” she added.

“In future, this will be at the forefront of my mind and I will continue to listen to and amplify minority communities, and endeavour to learn. I’m sorry.”

When Brooke was announced as this season’s Bachelorette back in May, Abbie took to Instagram to declare how thrilled she was that her friend — and the franchise’s first indigenous and bisexual lead — would be the leading lady.

“The indigenous representation! The queer representation! It gives me goosebumps thinking about what this means for Australia!” Abbie wrote.

“Brooke is one of the best people I’ve ever met. She’s intelligent, down to earth, hilarious and knows herself so bloody well. Love you sooo much.”

However, Brooke has since confirmed the pair are no longer friends following the conflict.
