The romance between reality TV stars Abbie Chatfield and Konrad Bien-Stephens sparked a bitter feud last week, with claims of “narcissism” and “white privilege”, but the couple are still going strong.
In fact, the relationship is growing serious with the Melbourne carpenter set to introduce his new girlfriend to his family this week as they plan their future together.
“I’ve never really had anything like this before,” Chatfield said.
“I’ve dated a lot of people in the last two years and he’s the first person that I’ve felt this with, which is really nice.
“I’m going to Melbourne for a week to meet his family next week. We’re going from zero to 100, he’s coming to family Christmas.”
When asked about the prospect of marriage, Chatfield, 26, replied: “I think so, I hope so.”
The couple met through a mutual friend last month and are already smitten.
“We’re both obsessed with each other, I’ve never had this - a mutual obsession - but it’s been nice,” she added.
Their relationship recently came under fire when Chatfield’s former best friend and Bachelorette star, Brooke Blurton, slammed the couple on social media.
Blurton and Bien-Stephens formed a romance on the show, which was filmed earlier this year, however she eliminated him ahead of the finale and then months later, Chatfield began dating him.
Last month, photos of Chatfield kissing the tattooed tradesman at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay were made public, before he had been eliminated from The Bachelorette.
To make matters worse, the TV host appeared as Blurton’s “best friend” during the finale episode.
Last week, Blurton accused the couple of ruining the show and called it “a very clear display of narcissism”.
“Everyone who watched the show, or was on the show cast and/or working as crew, will know that I put my heart and soul into it and it meant a lot for me to open myself up so vulnerably like that,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Not only that but for what it meant for the LGBTQIA+ and First Nations community to have that display of representation.
“...For that to be tainted ONCE again 1. To what I thought was a close friend, 2. Another white woman displaying what privilege looks like. 3. A very clear display of narcissism. Hurts me. Literally pains me.”
Chatfield publicly apologised and wrote, “I now understand that the timing of publicly sharing our relationship should have been more considered and that is my fault.”
She’s now hoping to put all of the drama behind her and using her platform for a good cause.
The former Bachelor runner-up has teamed up with cosmetics company The Body Shop along with local charity LittleDreamers to spread the joy this Christmas and recognise the 1 in 10 Aussie children who grow up as Young Carers.
“It’s an amazing cause and it’s a cause that you don’t really think about. It’s a small charity that really needs support,” she said.
