Sydney influencer reveals ‘shocking’ pregnancy comment at brand event

A Sydney woman was left embarrassed by an “unfortunate incident” at a recent brand event, telling her followers the interaction is “never OK”.

Content creator's 'shock' at awkward interaction

A content creator who previously made headlines after slamming the use of the word “brave” to describe herself at the gym has been left close to tears following another awkward interaction.

TikTok user @elloise_fit was invited to a recent influencer event, something she said rarely happens as content creation isn’t her full-time job.

Elloise said she was incredibly excited as she had purchased from the brand for years, loving everything it was about.

“I’m a size 14, my body is quite curvy,” she said, explaining she also had loose skin at the bottom of her torso because of her 30kg weight loss over a four-year period.

“It’s usually quite obvious that it’s loose skin but tonight I decided to wear a tight dress and some spanx so that I could feel extra cute.”

At the brand event, a worker approached Elloise and her friend with “naughty” or “nice” stickers for the attendees.

“She put a nice sticker on my arm and then she touches my stomach – like puts a hand full on my stomach – and goes ‘what about a sticker for this little one’,” Elloise recalled.

“She was obviously referring to the ‘baby’ that I had because she was saying I was pregnant. She put a sticker on my stomach, with her hand on it, even though it was the first time that I had met her.”

Elloise confirmed she was not pregnant, and asked why someone would say something like that to a practical stranger.

The content creator said she was shocked and her friend hadn’t realised what had taken place so the 25-year-old simply removed herself from the situation.

“What am I meant to say to that? This is a work event, I am representing myself and I don’t want to come off as rude or anything like that but I was just so shocked,” she said.

Elloise added it didn’t impact her at first but, as she made her way home, the reality of the situation began to set in.

“It is never OK to ask someone if they’re pregnant – let alone touch them. That was just next level to me,” she said.

Elloise said the interaction wasn’t a reflection of the brand, who the Sydney woman chose not to name, saying they did many great things but this was an “unfortunate incident”.

Social media users were stunned by the interaction, with one saying; “This has happened to me quite a few times. I now chose to make it as awkward for them as it was for me. I act confused as get them to repeat it.”

Another said: “I’m a plus size flight attendant and get it all the time – it’s absolutely mortifying and is so upsetting every single time.”

Elloise has previously gone viral for calling out other bad behaviours when it comes to body image.
