Chances are, you will have seen the iconic Cadbury eyebrow advert at least once or twice – now one of its stars has revealed the truth behind it.
Chances are, you will have seen the iconic Cadbury eyebrow advert at least once or twice.
Eyebrows – the commercial launched by the confectionary giant in 2009 to promote their Dairy Milk chocolate – featured two children and their amazing “ability” to make their eyebrows “dance”.
The advert featured a young boy, Bradley Ford, and a nine-year-old girl, Georgia Wake, sitting in front of a grey backdrop at a photographer’s studio as they moved their brows up and down at a crazy speed, The Sun reports.
It became one of the most memorable adverts of the noughties – but now, Ms Wake has told the truth about the ad, leaving many feeling “deceived”.
Posting on social media, Ms Wake claimed that she wasn’t actually moving her eyebrows – in fact, it’s not a “talent” she has at all.
Showing a snippet from the commercial, Ms Wake, now in her 20s, asked: “Who remembers this iconic advert?”
“When you lie to the nation about your eyebrow talent,” she then said.
“How times change. Nine-year-old me was thriving.”
The TikTok clip, posted under the username @georgiawake a mere 21 hours ago, has quickly racked up a staggering 437,000 views and has clearly left many stunned.
Social media users were horrified to find out Ms Wake wasn’t actually moving her eyebrows in the video – so much so that people admitted their childhood was now a “lie”.
“This advert had me in a chokehold,” one person said.
“I finally learnt how to raise an eyebrow each. It only took me six years to master it to find out I was living a lie.”
“I was 100 per cent convinced I could have robbed you out of a job I spent ages getting Emilia Clarke levels of expression and you’re telling me it was FAKE?!” another added.
A third commented: “I feel so deceived.”
“My childhood was a lie,” another wrote.
“This is why I have trust issues,” someone else said, to which a different person added: “So you basically just had to sit there lol.”
Despite the majority of comments of people in shock, others were eager to praise Ms Wake.
“You’re a national treasure,” one user said.
While a second declared: “Iconic.”
