Watch the terrifying moment a group of thugs descend on a parked car, while a child is strapped in the back seat.

Mum sets pit bull on thieves

A quick-thinking mother set her pit bull on three thieves who were attacking her family on the street.

The dramatic incident was captured on CCTV footage and showed a family getting out of their car around 8:30pm last week.

They had just returned to their home in the Penha District of Sao Paulo, Brazil, when their evening took a terrifying turn.

As the mother walked towards their home, she turned around and saw two thugs manhandling her husband outside of his taxi across the street.

Meanwhile, their child was sitting in the back seat when a third suspect jumped into the driver’s seat.

One of the men aggressively grabbed the husband and demanded he hand over the car keys.

However, the cab driver refused, knowing their child was still strapped in the vehicle.

Thinking quickly, the mother rushed into the house and returned with her pit bull by her side.

Once she was close enough, she unleashed her loyal dog.

One of the thieves took cover on the opposite side of the car, while his accomplice immediately jumped out of the driver’s seat, and they both fled down the road.

The dog can be seen chasing one of the thieves who ran off in the other direction, while the family attended to their crying child still strapped in the car.

Authorities reported that the thieves only managed to steal a bag containing documents and two mobile phones.

The investigation is ongoing and highlights the growing issue of burglaries and overall crime in the district, which has left residents fearful for their safety and security.

According to the National Secretariat of Public Security, the Penha District averages 11 burglaries and 11 thefts per day.

Resident Suzana Alves expressed her concerns: “We are afraid 24 hours a day. There are no set times for robberies; they happen even at four in the afternoon.

“We are considering leaving, but we need to figure out where to go and what to do with our apartment. It’s not easy.”

Engineer Irlan Montes, who has been robbed twice this year, said: “It’s always the same method — at gunpoint by two guys on a motorbike.

“They aim for the head, demand that you hand everything over, and then leave.”
