Kmart has unveiled its entire Christmas collection – and there’s one $15 item shoppers have already declared a cult buy due to its likeness to an expensive brand.

The budget retailer hosted a “Merry Market” in Melbourne on Wednesday to show off its huge festive product range which spans across toys, homewares, decorations, fashion and beauty.

There are thousands of affordable items on offer, including a set of novelty pyjamas for all the family that has been “flying off shelves”, in a bid to help make sure that even the most budget-conscious Aussies among us can have a special Christmas, Kmart said.

Rennie Freer, the Australian retailer’s general manager – marketing, told news.com.au Kmart was committed to keeping prices low amid the current cost of living crisis.

“Because we own everything, right from design down to sourcing in the supply chain, we can keep costs low. It’s an amazing business model that has never been as important as it is now,” she said.

Research shows that previously comfortable Australians are now struggling to pay rent, transport, food, childcare and education, with 22 per cent of Australians significantly struggling, according to the Nature Cost of Living Survey.

This means there will be more than 760,000 Australians affected by poverty this Christmas, data suggests.

Kmart said its commitment to “low prices” was a huge driving force behind its mammoth festive range, which hit shelves across the country last month.

“We’re already seeing many of the limited-time products go viral, which I think shows the consumer need for affordable items that suit every need,” Ms Freer said.

“The mini kitchen appliances are proving very popular, the beautiful gingerbread maker and the waffle maker, both of which I personally love, they’re awesome.

“The OXX Cosmetics Summer Solstice 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar is an absolute winner. It contains all of our cult beauty products and is an item we’ve never done before at Kmart.”

$15 Kmart ‘dupe’ of $60 item

With just 34 days to go (and counting) until Christmas, Aussies have been fast to get behind the array of festive goodies in stores, with the new $15 “Glowing Festive Scene” which is available in both “Gingerbread” and “Spice” varieties emerging as a crowd favourite online.

“This is giving Glasshouse dupe,” one TikTok user claimed, comparing it to a designer Australian brand that retails for $60.

As another said. “It looks so expensive.”

While one simply said: “Stunning.”

It’s not the only discount candle shoppers are losing their minds, with others posting about the brand’s $12 “Globe Candle”, which comes in three shakable designs, including “Santa”, “Gingerbread house” and “Reindeer”.

However some have claimed many of the Christmas products are already “sold out”, expressing their disappointment online.

“My Kmart is not stocked like this! Can’t get anything I want,” one shared.

“OMG, it’s all so gorgeous, but nothing I want is still in stock,” another agreed.
