Johnny Ingham and Rey Vakili tie the knot in lavish Taormina ceremony
Chicken heir Johnny Ingham and socialite Rey Vakili are the latest Sydney “it” couple to tie the knot, in a lush Italian ceremony.
Millionaire chicken heir Johnny Ingham and socialite Rey Vakili have wed in a lavish Italian ceremony.
The nuptials, off the back of Ingham’s sister Tamie’s star-studded Parisian wedding to celebrity chef Guillame Brahimi in June, were held in the Sicilian town of Taormina at the San Domenico Palace, the setting of The White Lotus’ second season.
The couple held their ceremony in the hotel’s gardens, before a no-expense-spared dinner and party orchestrated by wedding planner Sugokuii Events.
Guests included Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding, racing royalty Gai and Kate Waterhouse, Michelle Battersby, Charlotte Heinrich, Montarna Pitt and Alyce Tran.
Sharing glimpses of the festivities to Instagram, they deemed the wedding “an event like no other”.
Vakili, who is the managing director of LTK Australia, was resplendent in an off-the-shoulder tulle gown with a sweetheart neckline.
The one-time assistant to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour wore a matching lace-embroidered veil, keeping her accessories simple with a diamond choker and earrings.
The Sydney “It” girl, whose sister Hoda is married to bookmaker Tom Waterhouse, and Ingham, have been together since 2018.
The pair briefly split, before reuniting in 2021 and announcing their engagement last June. Ingham reportedly popped the question at his 32-year-old wife’s Double Bay apartment.
Ingham is one of Jack Ingham’s grandchild, and heir to the hugely-successful Ingham poultry business, which was founded by the late Walter Ingham Sr in 1918 as a gift to his son, Walter Ingham Jr.
After Walter Ingham Jr’s death in 1953, his sons Bob (who died in 2020) and Jack (who died in 2003), built the company into the largest producer of chickens and turkeys in Australia. The company was sold to TPG Capital in 2014 for $880 million.
According to the 2019 Financial Review Rich List, the Ingham family networth was valued at $1.17 billion.
