British mum, 26, dies days after ‘Brazilian bum-lift’ surgery

Tributes have begun pouring in for a young mother whose death has left loved ones devastated, as family warn “she shouldn’t have to die”.

A young British woman has died days after undergoing a Brazilian bum-lift operation in Turkey, it has been reported.

Demi Agoglia, 26, complained of chest pains just hours before she was due to return to her home in Manchester, northern England.

Her family said she was on her way back to the clinic in Istanbul for a check-up following the notoriously “dangerous” procedure, known commonly as a BBL, but suffered a heart attack in a taxi on the way to the hospital.

The mum-of-three’s partner Bradley Jones desperately gave her CPR and she was rushed into intensive care but doctors were unable to save her, The Sun reports.

According to the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), the mortality rate for BBLs is estimated to be one in every 3000 operations — meaning it has a higher rate of death than any other cosmetic procedure.

Demi, who was pronouced dead on Monday, is believed to have suffered a series of heart attacks caused by a fat embolism despite being told her surgery had been a success.

The mother, who gave birth to her youngest son just seven months ago, had flown to Turkey desptite having previously undergone dental work at the popular medical tourism destination which had been botched.

Her heartbroken brother Carl, 37, explained her family and partner had tried to persuade Demi not to have the work done - and warned anyone else thinking of going to Turkey for surgery. “Don’t do it,” the dad-of-four said.

“It is tragic what happened. We are just in shock.

“She had previously gone [to Istanbul] to have her teeth done. No one wanted her to go out and have it done but she is one of those people.”

Carl went on to explain their dad has just flown to Turkey to assist Bradley, stating “no one wanted” Demi to have the cosmetic procedure.

“If anyone is thinking of flying to Turkey for an operation I would say don’t do it. Even her boyfriend didn’t want her to do it,” he said.

“But she is 26 and has her own mind.”

He continuted: “We have been told that her boyfriend had to do CPR on her in a taxi.

“We think they both went back to the clinic for a check up and that she collapsed in the clinic.

“They put her in a taxi with her partner. Something happened in the taxi. She couldn’t breathe.

“He had to do CPR. I don’t know if she came round and died in the hospital. That is vague. We don’t know the full details.

“I think there will be a coroner’s report over there. Her partner needs a death certificate before she comes home.”

Carl went on to say “she shouldn’t have to die - she’s only 26”.

Younger sister Georgina posted an emotional tribute video on TikTok showing Demi.

She wrote: “I lost my sister yesterday. I miss you so much Demi. Nothing feels real anymore. How can you be gone.

“Just wanna hear you shout alright Rkid nothing with ever be the same without you I love you Demi.”

Demi and her siblings had only recently learned that their mum Christine had beaten a cancer fight.

A source said: “Demi’s family and partner are heartbroken. The doctors had told her the operation was a success and she was recovering for a few days as you’re not allowed to fly home straight away.

“She had been due to fly home to her children on Monday. At 4.30am on Monday she woke up in a lot of pain so her partner rang a taxi.

“It looks like she died in the taxi. He tried to give her CPR on the way and they rushed her into intensive care but they couldn’t save her and she was pronounced dead in the early hours.

“The hospital doctors believe she suffered a fat embolism which impacted her lungs and put stress on her heart, causing the heart attacks.

“She’s left behind three young children. People need to understand how dangerous surgery abroad can be.”

Friends have since paid tribute to the young mother, describing her as “the life pf the party”.

“Shine down so bright on your beautiful boys Demi Agoglia & send them the strength they will need to get through this,” one wrote.

“Omg heartbroken RIP Demi Agoglia you was loved and will be missed by so many,” another shared.

As one added: “What a cruel world we live in... You were the life of the party and such a funny wild person. Thinking of your little boys and your family and friends at this hard time. Rest in peace Demi Agoglia.”
