Sydney mum-of-four’s plastic surgery warning after BBL
The Sydney influencer was five months post-partum after her fourth child and “not thinking clearly” when she decided to have liposuction on her legs.
A mother-of-four who had a Brazilian Butt Lift surgery is warning other new mothers to wait after going under the knife.
Influencer Tori Dejong was five months post-partum after her fourth child when she decided to have liposuction on her legs.
“I was not thinking clearly, and comparing my post baby body to my body I had before kids, which was an unrealistic thought I put in my head,” she told news.com.au.
She was told a small amount would also be injected into her buttocks, which would result in a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). She said her goal was never to have a large backside.
A BBL essentially injects or removes fat from the buttocks in order to create smoother skin, and a firmer bum.
However, the surgery does have a long list of potential risks such as heavy bleeding, infection, an allergic reaction, heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism, numbness, restricted movement, visible scars and excess fluid build up.
In Australia, patients can undergo cosmetic enhancements anytime after birth, but most recommend waiting at least six to 12 months before going under the knife.
The Sydney mum saw it as a quick fix solution to her feelings of self-consciousness but she quickly realised that it wasn’t the answer.
If anything, it made her feelings worse and she regretted the procedure. Tori went through the procedure three years ago, and last year transformed her body through exercise, saying she is clearly not as bloated and her core muscles are stronger.
She did not have the BBL removed surgically, as that is not a surgery available in Australia.
Tori said that not all cosmetic surgery was bad, she has had a successful journey with breast augmentation with another doctor, but she encourages everyone to do their research.
“I’m so thankful to be alive and healthy. I have no one else to blame but myself,” Tori told news.com.au.
