Pregnant MAFS star Martha Kalifatidis has stunned fans with a big revelation just weeks before she’s due to give birth.

One of Married At First Sight’ssuccess stories – Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli – have revealed the gender of their baby.

The couple announced they were having a baby in September, and have been candid about the gruelling toll of the pregnancy.

But, ahead of their March due date, the couple took to Instagram to reveal the gender of their unborn child, writing: “Oh boy do we have news.”

In a short clip, Martha showed off her baby bump before the video cut to a sonogram where the couple asked the sonologist “not to tell” them the gender of the baby.

However, the pair later had a novel way to learn their first child’s gender, asking a jeweller to make a diamond ring with either blue or pink gems in it.

As the couple huddled around their kitchen table to open the ring box, Martha appeared to have second thoughts, quickly shutting the container and stating she didn’t want to know.

As clips of Martha sporting her baby bump played over the screen, there were recordings of friends and family’s voices declaring they thought the baby would be a boy.

Eventually Martha, who is now eight months pregnant, decides to open the box revealing a blue and diamond ring.

“It’s a boy,” Michael shouted.

“Oh my god, it’s a boy,” Martha said at the same time, before it cut to a clip of them cuddling and celebrating.

Hundreds rushed to congratulate the couple on the news on their social media post.

“Congratulations,” former MAFS co-star Jules Robinson commented on the post, while Steph Claire Smith left heart eye emojis.

Last month, the 34-year-old was praised after her candid admission about her pregnancy.

She wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption that she didn’t know “how I can be so up and down”.

“I felt OK yesterday but today I literally feel like I’m dying,” the former Married At First Sight contestant said, adding she thought she might have Covid, only to test negative to the virus.

“Last week I spent 4 days straight in the house on the couch … I have a sore throat, no energy AT ALL. I’m hot and cold. Don’t want to get out of bed.

“I forced myself to get up and go get food just for some momentum, but I couldn’t even get myself out of the car once we arrived.”

Martha said her due date had been pushed back by an extra week, to March 6.

While she acknowledged “how lucky I am and what a miracle it is to carry a child”, she said, “I feel like I’m at breaking point.”

The candid post was immediately flooded with an outpouring of support for the star, who thanked them “for taking the time to reply … sharing your stories … for your words of encouragement”.

Martha’s pregnancy has been far from smooth sailing. At five weeks, she was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum – a severe form of morning sickness.
