The Married At First Sight stars made the announcement to their Instagram followers on Monday.

The 34-year-old said that she had been suffering with a case of hyperemesis gravidarum - extreme morning sickness - leaving her bedridden for months.

“We wanted to explain our situation and make a little bit of an announcement. Martha is pregnant” Michael began.

“It hasn’t been this exciting, wonderful time for us. I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining,” Martha then explained.

“We are so excited, we are so happy, it was a compete surprise. But at five weeks I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum.

“Which is severe chronic nausea and vomiting with no relief. It is 24-7. I literally didn’t get out of bed for two months.

“I was so sick. I could not eat or drink anything. There were days I didn’t even get up to pee. I lost ten kilos in five weeks.

“We have been in and out of the emergency room and hospital.”

Martha’s notable absence from social media in recent weeks left fans concerned, with many commenting on her last picture asking: “Are you OK?”

Brunelli recently shared a new photo of his fiancee alongside an update on her recovery.

In another post, he then reassured worried fans: “Martha is going to be OK.”

He said on July 28: “We came back a month early, to be around family and more comfortable at home.

“Was it the ideal way to end our trip? No. But we had an amazing three months overseas, experiencing different cultures, relaxing, having fun and seeing friends.”

While Martha has been quiet as she recovers, she did take to Instagram shortly after arriving back in Australia to tell her 644,000 followers she would be “back soon”.

“Hi, everyone. I know I’ve been quiet on here. I’ve been bedridden for a few weeks, but I’m finally home and getting the care I need,” she said in an Instagram Stories post at the time.

“I’ll be back soon. Thanks for all the messages. Sorry I haven’t got back to anyone. I really do appreciate the support though.”
