Woman discovers game changing laundry detergent hack
Some people have been doing it for years but others had no idea, and have been left gobsmacked by this woman’s “mind-blowing” laundry hack.
If you thought the plastic cup that comes with your washing detergent was used just for measuring liquid, think again.
A woman was shocked to learn they are actually designed to be thrown into your washing machine, along with your clothes.
“Whhaatt?! Really??!!” she exclaimed.
The suggestion allows for all the detergent to be used, leaving no waste and preventing you from having to rinse it yourself.
The viral post is from January and resurfaced again after the woman shared it in the popular Aussie Facebook group, Mum’s Who Clean.

“Hey mom, you do know those cups are made to be thrown in the laundry after you fill them up. It cleans them,” the original post read.
“Mind blown. Go ahead. Tell me you knew this.”
It was shared more than 13,000 in just a few days at the time and has generated the same attention all over again with hundreds of Facebook users commenting on the game-changing hack.
“Wow, I never knew – I’m gonna do this from now on,” one member wrote
“Wow I am learning this for the first time today!” another commented.
“Omg mind blown definitely doing this from now on!” a third person said, while a fourth woman simply described it as “awesome”.
However, it appears that for some, tossing the plastic lid or cup into the wash with your clothes, is common knowledge.
“I thought everyone knew this,” one woman said.
“I always do this — no waste!” another added.
“I throw mine in washing machine … get it out after washing is done,” a third said, while others were shocked to learn people didn’t know of its complete use.
“I’m surprised there are people out there that didn’t know this,” a member said.

Some were eager to give the handy hint a try – “No way! I have to try this,” while others were sceptical, asking whether it was safe.
Depending on the brand, some will specify whether the cup can be tossed in with your washing, however, according to Colin Jones, category expert at Appliances Online, it’s not recommended.
“There could be a risk of damaging parts and components, within the bowl itself, in relation to the agitator,” Mr Jones told news.com.au
“It could get caught or trapped under the agitator or damage the fins of the agitator. Also it could damage the plastic cup you put in, resulting in bits of plastic going through your clothes.”
He said if you put the plastic cup in with the detergent in a front loader washing machine and you select a cycle with a pre wash option, it will wash with the detergent for the first few minutes.
“It will then pump it out, which means you will have no detergent for the main wash program and your clothes might not receive the benefits of a full wash.”
However, some have used the hack for years with no troubles.
“I always put it in the wash and it has never ruined anything,” a Facebook user said, while others suggested only doing it with certain garments.
“I guess with towels but I wouldn’t want that plastic scraping up my clothing,” one person said.
“I don’t, just to keep my fabrics less damaged,” said another.
