Sydney residents are on high alert after a flurry of notices overnight about positive cases visiting businesses around the city.

Sydney residents are on high alert after NSW Health released a flurry of notices overnight about positive cases visiting businesses around the CBD, including a gym, Kmart and an Apple store.

Three Sydney schools also announced they would be closed tomorrow over fears students had been exposed to COVID-19.

It comes as almost 400 quarantined travellers were hurried out of a budget hotel in Sydney’s inner east on Tuesday, after it was called “unsafe” by one guest.

Police said they’d made the decision to move the 366 travellers out of the Travelodge in Surry Hills because the hotel did not meet “expectations”.

On the same night, an alert was issued for Broadway Shopping Centre in Ultimo after an infectious customer visited multiple shops over the weekend.

The shopper visited the Apple Store and Kmart between 3.30pm and 5pm on Saturday August 22 before testing positive for coronavirus.

The owner of the centre, Mirvac, said in an email the Apple and Kmart stores would be deep cleaned while the rest of the businesses in the centre would remain open.

“The Apple Store and Kmart are tonight undertaking deep cleaning and working with NSW Health to ensure all other require actions are taken to maintain our community’s safety,” the email said.

“Based on current Health advice, customers in our wider community who may have visited other retailers in the centre or visited at other times should not be alarmed. The centre and all other retailers will remain open.”

Meanwhile, a Sydney gym was issued with a health alert, with NSW Health warning two infectious gym goers visited the fitness centre on multiple days.

An infectious case visited the Kmart store at Broadway.

The same case also visited the Apple store.

Two infectious cases visited the City Tattersalls Fitness Centre on multiple days.

The City Tattersalls Fitness Centre on Pitt St was attended by two people who tested positive for coronavirus. The people attended the gym on August 19, August 21 and August 23. Anyone who visited the health club between August 19 and August 23 is advised to monitor for symptoms and self-isolate and seek out a test if symptoms develop.

“NSW Health is working closely with City Tattersalls Fitness Centre to directly contact close contacts,” a statement from NSW Health said.

“NSW Health is also alerting people who may have been to 300 George Street Sydney on August 19, 20, 21 or 24 to be alert for symptoms, and if any develop to get tested and self-isolate immediately, after one of the cases worked here while infectious.”

Three schools in Sydney will also be closed tomorrow over concerns of possible cases of coronavirus.

Riverstone High School in north west Sydney, Wyndham College in Quakers Hill and Schofields Public School will all be closed, and move to home learning tomorrow.

Students concerned are undergoing testing for COVID-19.

A notice on all three school’s website’s advises the school is “temporarily non operational”.

“Our school will temporarily cease operations due to a possible case of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus)”.

NSW reported just three new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, and all cases were successfully traced by NSW Health.

Two of the cases were closed contacts of previously diagnosed cases, and the other case was acquired overseas and is in hotel quarantine.
