Bec Judd mocked over ‘Free Melbourne’ T-shirt on Instagram
The 37-year-old’s post in support of ending the city’s strict lockdown has backfired spectacularly after screenshots were circulated on Twitter.
Bec Judd has been labelled “insensitive” after sporting a “Free Melbourne” T-shirt in a series of posts on her Instagram stories.
The WAG and businesswoman, who has been riding out Melbourne’s strict lockdown with her family in their $7.3 million Brighton mansion, shared a video to Instagram of her doing her hair and makeup routine.
But it was her T-shirt, which she tagged along with the hashtag #FreeMelbourne, that saw her mocked after screenshots of it were posted on Twitter.
The Free Melbourne T-shirts cost $40 and can be purchased online, with the website explaining that 100 per cent of profits from the sales will be donated to Beyond Blue.

“Tag yourself, I’m Bec Judd’s “FREE MELBOURNE” tshirt,” @kirstenweiser tweeted.
Bec’s post was labelled “embarrassing” given her lockdown circumstances had been far more favourable than others in Melbourne.

“Bec Judd is genuinely so embarrassing. Imagine post like 8 insta stories of sponsored content a couple days after dropping another line of $200 leggings and then wearing a ‘Free Melbourne’ tshirt as if she’s imprisoned in her f***ing mansion,” one person tweeted.
Others argued that if she was concerned about Melbourne businesses she could offer them financial support and pointed out she had been in favour of locking down Melbourne hot spot suburbs in June.
I have so much empathy for small business owners of Melbourne. I do not have empathy for Bec Judd.

It must be so hard for Bec Judd, spending lockdown in her multi-million dollar mansion. Will someone Free Melbourne for her ð¥º

Must be tough being Bec Judd, âlocked upâ in a huge mansion with complete financial security when so many other are just scrapping by ð https://t.co/l91DZJ3qHc

Bec Judd. Imagine being so out of touch with other humans. Things are hard for small business, but theyâve mostly all handled this better than millionaire Bec Judd

But others thought the criticism of Bec was too harsh, pointing out that others had been wearing the same T-shirt too.
So yeah I thought I saw a similar tweet yesterday.. a day later people coming at Bec Judd for wearing the exact same shirt just because sheâs a big name. Twitter tough. It doesnât matter if sheâs lives in a mansion like that frees her from not being able to see friends and fam? pic.twitter.com/zNoUMsQ8vL

Judging by the two vile responses on Bec Judd on my feed I stand corrected

The biggest losers target that girl. Disgusting humans
It’s not the first time Bec has weighed into Melbourne’s lockdown.
Last month she slammed “Dictator Dan” over the ongoing stage four lockdown in an Instagram story promoting a pair of children’s cubby houses from novelty store The Little Cardboard Co.
“Perfect for iso and upcoming school holidays as it seems Dictator Dan will be locking Victorians in our homes even longer,” she wrote, with a rolling eyes emoji.
Judd had previously expressed support for Melbourne’s harsh lockdown, slamming a rule that allowed people who don’t have a garden but had tested positive for coronavirus to leave their homes to exercise.
Bec took to her Instagram stories to criticise the rule, writing: “FFS Victoria (eye-roll emoji). It’s a pandemic.”
She added: “COVID-positive people should not be allowed to leave their houses. Just like in all the other states (facepalm emoji).”
Bec has also urged people to download the COVIDSafe app so they can “get this country moving again”.
The mother-of-four is married to former AFL player Chris Judd and first made headlines for her Brownlow red carpet looks.
She is now a successful radio and TV presenter and also has her own activewear label Jaggad which has a cult fashion following.
