The captain of a luxury superyacht used by a Melbourne property magnate Mark Simonds to sail to the Gold Coast has been charged by Queensland Police.
The multi-millionaire and his family set sail from Melbourne on board the Lady Pamela on August 9 for a 15-day jaunt along the east coast, arriving on the Gold Coast on August 24.
The yacht and its seven occupants were initially granted a travel exemption but it was revoked by Queensland authorities following community outrage.
Last week a $4003 fine was issued to the skipper for allegedly providing false information.
The Gold Coast Bulletin now reports the captain has been issued a notice to appear in Southport Magistrates Court for making a false declaration to Queensland Health.
Police will reportedly allege the captain gave false information about not leaving the yacht in NSW, when he had actually left the yacht.
The paper says the captain and other occupants of the boat are also under investigation by NSW Police and could face further charges.
