McDonald’s Australia unveils new McFlurry

The fast-food giant has just unveiled its new, limited-edition $5.60 item and while some fans are eager to try it, others aren’t convinced.

Macca's drops two new epic desserts

McDonald’s Australia has added a new McFlurry flavour to its range – and it’s already got fans excited.

Customers can now get their hands on the Cadbury Dairy Milk McFlurry via the Uber Eats app. It will hit stores nationwide as of April 6, but only for a limited time.

The iconic ice cream features Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate flakes with Macca’s famous chocolate sauce.

“How exciting!!!” one fan posted on Facebook

“Simple but good!!” added another.

A McDonald’s Australia spokesperson said the McFlurry desserts are one of their most popular items.

“We know how much our customers love our partnerships with iconic brands, such as Cadbury (and) we created (the new McFlurry) to give our customers more options on our menu, as well as bring together the delicious flavours of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate and our iconic soft serve,” the spokesperson said.

Liz Whitbread, senior brand manager at McDonald’s Australia said it’s perfect for ice cream and chocolate lovers who want to enjoy the iconic flavours together.

“There’s nothing quite like the iconic Macca’s soft serve and the smooth and creamy taste of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate,” she added.

“With Cadbury celebrating 100 years in Australia, we are excited to bring together two iconic brands to create the perfect dessert or afternoon treat.”

However, despite most customers raving on about how delicious it sounds, others have some concerns.

“Literally a sundae with a flake …” one person wrote.

“They will probably just crush up the flake that you can add for an extra $1 but charge an extra $3 for the ‘limited edition’,” another joked.

But Macca’s has assured fans the new treat is “worth melting for”.

When the fast-food giant released its Caramilk McFlurry last October, it copped a (soft) serve from fans.

Complaints of a lacklustre amount of toppings or – as one Caramilk fan so eloquently put it – tasting like “crap in a cup” flooded social media.

But not everyone was a hater, with some saying it was delicious, especially if you requested extra topping or added caramel sauce.

The all-new Cadbury Dairy Milk McFlurry is available exclusively via Uber Eats for $5.60, before landing in Macca’s restaurants nationwide on Wednesday, April 6.
