TikTok influencer reveals McDonald’s hack which shaves off as much as one-third of the price

The former Macca’s worker watched as customers would make dumb mistakes and is now sharing what to do when ordering to save yourself money.

A TikTok influencer has stumbled across a way to save money when ordering from McDonald’s and she has shared that “nugget of wisdom” with her thousands of followers.

Sydney-based Queenie Tan, who boasts 150,000 fans, posted a video on Friday that shows MacDonald’s customers how to shave off more than 30 per cent of the price for a Happy Meal.

All you have to do is follow a few simple steps.

Ms Tan revealed how diners can save up to $2.25 for a meal that should cost $7.20 at full price.

While $2.25 might not seem like much, that’s 31 per cent off the overall price.

She learned the trick while working at McDonald’s as a teenager.

Impersonating a customer, Ms Tan begins her video with: “Can I get a six piece chicken nugget meal with a diet coke?”

Now dressed up as a fast food worker, Ms Tan replies to herself: “Sure, that’ll be $10.30.

“Why don’t you ask for a chicken nuggets happy meal instead? It’s the same thing but $2 cheaper. And you can ask them to keep the toy if you don’t want it.”

The customer complies and ends up scoring the happy meal — which has the exact same menu items as their previous order — for $8.30 instead of $10.30.

It’s not the only way to save yourself a few bucks at the popular chain.

If you order the kids’ $4.95 Cheeseburger Happy Meal with small fries and a drink you can save yourself $2.25.

The same meal for adults costs $7.20.

It’s not the only saving trick Ms Tan picked up during her time as a McDonald’s staff member.

In November last year, she released a now-viral video that outlined how to save $1 for a Macca’s chocolate sundae.

She explained how replacing a small ($3) or large ($4.25) sundae with warmed fudge with a vanilla soft serve in a lid with hot fudge saved as much as a “quarter of the cost”.

Queenie said you simply ask for a “soft serve in a lid with chocolate sauce”.

“I order this all the time,” the influencer added.
