A food product has gone viral on TikTok after a shopper pointed out an “amazing” detail that sent shoppers straight to the freezer aisle.

Coles frozen croissants go viral

With overseas travel still off the table for the foreseeable future it’s probably going to be a while until you can eat fresh croissants in Paris.

But shoppers are going crazy over a range of frozen pastries in Coles they say taste nearly as good as the real thing – because they are imported from France.

In a TikTok that’s been viewed more than 63,000 times, Sydney woman Lucy Helenak shared a video of the $6 Coles Frozen Bake At Home Pain Au Chocolate six-pack.

To make them all you have to do is put the pastries on a tray and bake until they are golden brown.

“Coles in Australia sells frozen pastries imported from France,” Lucy captioned the video. “And they’re amazing!”

She also recommend the plain croissant version, saying they were also “so good”.

Lucy’s post got dozens of comments from shoppers who also raved about the frozen pastries, saying they were “awesome” and they had “lots of these” stocked up at home.

“Nooo don’t sell these out, they are too good,” one person joked.

“Don’t tell everyone,” another quipped.

“These are a favourite in my household, especially when they are on sale!” one person said.

“I’ve been complaining for days that we don’t have a local patisserie in my 5km (Melb), Imma checkout Coles ASAP,” another commented.

A Coles spokeswoman told news.com.au their frozen croissants were “made in France from the very best chocolate croissant connoisseurs in the world”

“Our Coles Frozen Bake At Home Pain Au Chocolat are really popular with customers – they’re just like the delicious, golden flaky croissants you find cafes but you can bake them from the comfort of your own home for just $6 for a six pack,” they said.

Aldi spanakopita is store’s ‘best kept secret’

Last year a $7 Aldi food product also gained a cult following after it went viral on TikTok.

In a TikTok video Sydney foodie @mernasfoodfomo shared why she loves the Aldi Urban Eats Greek Spanakopita, adding that she will “usually hoard boxes” of the product.

“I’m going to share a little secret with you,” Merna explains in the video. “It’s this spanakopita from Aldi and it’s made in Greece.”

Merna said the spanakopita from Aldi’s freezer aisle was “so easy” to make into a delicious meal as all you needed to do was pop it into the oven at 180C and cook for 40 minutes.

“Honestly this is Aldi’s best kept secret; I usually hoard boxes of this,” she said, before sharing the “most satisfying shots” of the cooked product.

The video racked up more than 35,000 views from fans of the product, who jokingly chastised the TikTok user for giving away their “secret”.

“They are the best. Not worth me making,” one person commented, while another added: “It’s the best but it sells out almost as soon as it hits Aldi freezers.”
