Grinders Coffee took home equal first place for Overall Large Chain Champion in Australia’s largest roasting competition, The Golden Bean, for its blend carefully and exclusively curated for Jack’s Cafe.

Grinders general manager, Sally Byrne, said the award was testament to the exceptional roasters who have been making coffee for Jack’s Cafe for more than four years.

The fast food giant’s cafe network has more than 450 locations across Australia.

Hungry Jack’s announced last July it would commence a nationwide rollout of barista-made coffee under the banner of Jack’s Cafe, following an ever-increasing appetite for coffee in Australia.

“We all know how much Australians love their coffee, and quality barista-made coffee isn’t just ‘nice to have’, it is an expectation from our customers,” Hungry Jack’s chief executive Chris Green said at the time.

A Hungry Jack’s statement said the $20-million investment had poured funds into state-of-the-art equipment and rigorous training in order to deliver the “best coffee experience possible”.

Jack’s Cafe aims to deliver a signature blend that combines arabica beans from Papua New Guinea and Costa Rica, adding to the nation’s coffee imports that have more than doubled in the last decade.
