Coca-Cola has changed the name of one of its most popular products.

Coca-Cola No Sugar is being replaced by Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, after Coke Zero was replaced in 2017.

“At Coca-Cola we’re always evolving our product portfolio to provide more of what people love,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“Since March this year, consumers will have started to see a new name for Coca-Cola No Sugar roll out into market.

“Coca-Cola Zero Sugar has exactly the same great tasting recipe, it’s just a new name that is consistent with the product name globally.

“We believe the name change will be popular with our existing fan base and will help more people discover this great taste.”

Coca Cola No Sugar has grown in popularity year on year from 2019.

The new name of the drink has already been spotted on supermarket shelves, with social media users reacting.

“Gosh they went full circle with that, didn’t they,” one social media user said.

Another said: “I still call it Coke Zero.”

“I never liked the taste of coke zero... but didn’t mind the no sugar obviously there is a slight taste difference, so I wonder what one this actually is,” another said.

In 2018, shoppers had a hard time embracing Coca-Cola No Sugar after Coke Zero, with even Woolworths revealing that the supermarket wanted to continue stocking Zero due to its popularity.

At the time, Alison Watkins, chief executive of Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA), the company that produces Coke products in Australia, said the transition to No Sugar was a “work in progress” because Australian consumers, more than any in the world, had taken Zero to their hearts. More needed to be done for customers to “understand” No Sugar.

Coke No Sugar launched in Australia in June 2017. It was thought Zero fans would swiftly succumb to the newcomer’s charms, which the company claims has a near identical taste to full fat Coke.

The recipe for Coca Cola No Sugar changed in 2021 in a bid to get more Aussies to switch to the healthier alternative.
