Coca-Cola unveils new limited edition soft drink cans
Coca-Cola is changing up its look as part of a limited release in Australia to celebrate a huge event in Sydney this month.
Global soft drink brand Coca-Cola is changing the look of its cans as it gears up to celebrate Sydney WorldPride 2023.
The limited edition “Love Cans” will feature a rainbow inside a heart set inside the “o” of the word “love”.
The rainbow symbol has become synonymous with the LGBTQ+ community.
“Coca-Cola has long believed in the power of bringing people together,” Coca-Cola Australia marketing director Kate Miller said. “No matter who you are or where you’re from, love is what connects us all.”
The cans were first created during Australia’s 2017 marriage equality debate to encourage people to vote yes on the plebiscite.
At the upcoming WorldPride event in Darlinghurst, Sydney, they will be available for free at the Opening and Closing concerts, as well as in the Pride Villages.
The villages will be on Crown and Riley streets, which will be shut down from February 24 and feature stalls, performances and dining for the duration of Sydney WorldPride.
The Opening Ceremony, which will take place at the Domain and feature performances from Kylie Minogue, Charli XCX and Jessica Mauboy, will also feature a Coca-Cola photo booth.
The booth uses nine cameras to create 3D images that can be instantly shared across social media.
“We designed the Love Can and photo booth to showcase different expressions of love, whether it be loving someone else or simply appreciating and loving yourself and who you are,” Ms Miller said.
“We want everyone to show their love by accepting and supporting others.”
Attendees are encouraged to tag Coke and hashtag #celebratelove on their social media posts.
The partnership between Coca-Cola and Sydney WorldPride reflects the soft drink brand’s “commitment to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive company,” Ms Miller said.
“We strive to do this by employing people who mirror the diversity of the communities in which we operate.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating this momentous event for the first time in the southern hemisphere.”
The cans will only be available for the duration of Sydney WorldPride 2023.
