Footy WAG Margaux Parker loses 15kg in three months cutting out one thing

The wife of retired Broncos great Corey Parker has revealed how she lost an incredible 15kg in a few months cutting out just one thing.

Extreme weight loss and the impact it can have on the human body.

When Margaux Parker tipped the scales at 95kg it led the mother-of-four to overhaul her lifestyle and shed an incredible 15kg in just three months.

The 34-year-old radio host and wife of retired Broncos great Corey Parker admitted it was a combination of things that led to her unhealthy lifestyle choices — from her strenuous dancing years, partying, drinking and smoking days to her yoyo dieting.

“And now the post-partum baby weight shred. For me it’s not so much the social media pressure or unrealistic standards of beauty but the expectations and criticism I place upon myself,” Ms Parker said in an Instagram post from April.

“Day by day slowly easing my way back to loving and fully accepting my body and how it has supported me even if I haven’t done the right thing by it always.”

The 92.5 Gold FM drive show host of The Rush Hour said it came down to making manageable changes to her diet such as eating three meals a day, watching her portions and cutting out coffee.

“For me, it was just about eating consistently and finding what worked with my lifestyle because (previously) I would skip breakfast and lunch but have four coffees with sugar a day and maybe something snacky like chippies at work then a massive dinner and a can of Coke,” Ms Parker told The Sunday Mail.

She is now a happy and healthy 80kg and has attributed her weight-loss success to taking time out of her busy mummy schedule and focusing on herself.

“I was happy being a little bit chubby because I was like ‘eh, I’m chubby but I’m cute and I’m tall’,” she told the publication.

In a recent Instagram post, Ms Parker revealed the tipping point was when she didn’t recognise herself in old photos.

“Over the last 10 years my weight has fluctuated between 70kg and 90kg. But once I hit 95kg I started to not recognise myself in photos or want to post photos of myself and use my clothes to hide what I had become,” she said.

“Today I am sitting at 80kg and couldn’t be happier with the results I have achieved over the last three months.”

In her honest post, she said some days she was super consistent and other days she faltered and binged.

“But I always back it up with a pep talk and getting back on track. There is no one answer or solution, it takes time and a want for change and persistence,” Ms Parker said.

“Don’t make excuses make you a priority. Find what works for you and stick at it. The results are only going to create a happier healthier more radiant you. Just do it.”

Ms Parker, who has four children — Memphis, 9, Wylei, 8, Jagger, 5, and River, 3 — had gone from struggling to squeeze into a size 16 to now being a comfortable size 12.

She said it hinged on getting rid of the mother’s guilt attached to taking time out for herself to make simple changes to her diet and exercise.

Ms Parker said finding time to exercise had it challenges, particularly with a full-time job, but explained it was about finding a balance and exercising when she wanted to and when it fitted into her schedule.

Ms Parker admitted she found it difficult to get back into the gym as she was embarrassed.

But she quickly realised the people around her were only fitter because at some point, they made the choice she did, and “at one point, they probably felt like me”.

“For me, it’s not about being super skinny or fit, it’s just about being comfortable and feeling comfortable in my clothes again,” she told the publication.

Ms Parker said she wanted to be a good role model for her two young girls — and to remind women not to compare themselves to one another.

She told The Sunday Mail that some people have said she is not “hot enough” to be Corey’s wife, or thin enough.

She explained in their 16 year-relationship, she had supported him through his career.

“So it’s not based on looks. Yes, there’s an initial attraction, but it becomes so much more than that. He loves me because of me,” she told the publication.

In another honest body post, Ms Parker put the question to her Instagram followers, asking, “Will we ever be totally comfortable with it?? (body)”

“Some days I hide it and am judgmental and critical of it, and other days I am happy to show it off and flaunt it, especially after what it has achieved,” she added.

“Day by day slowly easing my way back to loving and fully accepting my body and how it has supported me even if I haven’t done the right thing by it always.”

Ms Parker said she was happy and more motivated than ever.

“I deserve to feel like this — better and happier and more confident and fun and not self-doubting and self-hating,” she said.
