Mum flaunts new look after fixing portion mistake to lose 45kg
A mother-of-three who thought eating healthy foods meant she could have seconds and thirds has undergone an epic transformation.
Welcome to You Got This, news.com.au’s weekly slice of fitness inspiration featuring tips and advice from real women who’ve experienced it all.
When Cassie Krawczyk gave birth to her second child in 2015, she knew she had to make a big change and fast.
The 31-year-old mum from Melbourne said her two girls needed someone that would be with them for years to come.
However, by then Cassie weighed 109kg and had formed an unhealthy relationship with food, telling news.com.au her portion sizes were out of control.
“I honestly wasn’t the worst eater. I ate healthy food but my portion sizes were way off,” she explained.
“I thought because I was eating healthy that meant I could eat as much as I wanted which resulted in me going back for second and third serves.”

When the now mother-of-three did crave takeaway food, she would “easily eat” a whole large pizza.
“I had very little education about calories or portion control.”
But she has since turned her lifestyle around with the motivation of wanting to be a better role model for her two girls, now 7 and 6.
Cassie went on to lose 45kg with The Healthy Mummy, admitting she was tired of feeling “ashamed” and “embarrassed” all the time.
“I hated myself. I acted confident to those around me,” Cassie said.
“I was always the funny ‘fat’ girl and would do silly things to get attention. I look back and to be honest I am disgusted in that person (the old me).
“I was always sick, my immune system was horrible. I could never find clothes I liked and would always go for something low cut to show off my assets in hope it will draw attention off the rest of my body.”
After joining the online fitness program at the end of 2015, Cassie completely changed her mindset and approach to food.
“I became healthier, stronger and more confident. I am now extremely active and I have a whole new relationship with food.”

After she revamped her diet, adjusting her calories to her goals, she focused her attention on exercise starting with walking.
“Soon I was running 5km, then 10km before I finally decided to join a gym and do strength training.”
But in 2018, Cassie was faced with another challenge after suffering post-natal depression following the birth of her son.
“A lot of things changed which made it harder to get back into things, but once I got back in the game I was able to start again,” she said, adding she lost the 10kg she gained after giving birth.

“I now train six days a week with a mix of cardio and weights.”
On her days off she does yoga and meditation to help calm her body and clear her mind.
Cassie said she has learned to love herself again and is a “better mother, a better wife and most of all a better, happier person”.
“I feel confident, sexy and strong. I feel like a whole new person.”
