‘It was just gross’: MAFS star Cathy Evans on her weight loss journey

Cathy is set to be one of the most popular faces on MAFS but she didn’t always look this way — with the 26-year-old unrecognisable in past pictures.

Cathy Evans is set to become one of the most recognisable faces on this year’s season of Married At First Sight.

The 26-year-old won fans with her bubbly personality during last night’s premiere when she “married” Josh Pihlak.

But the Sydney woman has gone through a stunning physical transformation prior to MAFS, even going so as describing herself as a “different person” both “mentally and physically”.

Before her reality show stint Cathy said she was “smashing back over 10,000 calories a day” and had since had cosmetic work done.

Since becoming determined to overhaul her appearance, Cathy has documented her fitness and weight loss journey on both Instagram and YouTube, sharing several before and after photos.

Today, her Instagram feed is dominated by photos of the blonde showing off her toned figure with Cathy revealing it is the result of significant changes to her lifestyle.

In a 2016 video posted to YouTube, Cathy explained how she gained 20 kilos before moving from New Zealand to Australia the year before.

“It was just gross, I was really uncomfortable, really unhappy with the way I looked,” she said.

Cathy said she managed to drop the kilos and her body fat by lifting weights, focusing on a different body part every session.

“I haven’t done any cardio, it is just heavy training and nutrition that helps me and I’m very happy with that,” she said.

Cathy blamed her weight gain on partying too much, writing in a 2016 Instagram post that she had started going out with her friends where she would drink and “pop pills” in her teens.

“It got real heavy when I was 17 and then by 18 and at uni it was Wednesday through to Saturday night drinking,” she wrote.

Cathy has also gotten Botox and lip fillers.

The cosmetic work has transformed her face.

“I would say I was smashing back over 10,000 calories a day cuz I was eating a lot of junk cuz hangover feed, duh.

“I did this party cycle until 19, 20 and started to relax a bit more and only going out every Saturday by age 20.”

It was only when Cathy’s brother told her that she was “so fat” that the “mortified” MAFS star decided to make a change.

“I choose not to drink cuz I don’t like a banging hangover the next day,” she wrote.

Cathy said her past weight gain was the result of too much partying.

She now stays away from too much drinking and ‘popping pills’.

“I choose not to pop pills anymore cuz it’s a waste of money. I just like being productive with my weekends cuz I work so much, I’d rather fit in workouts, friend catch ups, errands and shopping.”

Cathy’s transformation isn’t just through fitness and diet, with the reality star also spending big on cosmetic work.

According to Daily Mail Australia, Cathy has also spent $20,000 on her appearance, which includes breast implants, Botox in her chin and forehead and lip fillers.
