I’m a Celebrity star Charlotte Crosby reveals weight-loss success
Reality TV star Charlotte Crosby became a health guru after adopting a healthy lifestyle. But a photo from her past still makes her “sad”.
Geordie Shorestar Charlotte Crosby revealed how a balanced diet and occasional “cheat day” helped her lose 20kg back in 2014.
The 29-year-old, who is starring on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! Australia, went from a size 16 to size 8, telling NW magazine how shedding the weight has made her the “happiest” she’s ever felt.
“I’m actually the happiest I’ve been in a long time,” Charlotte told the publication.
Since then, Charlotte has maintained her 59kg frame and says she often pinches herself that she’s “an actual fitness guru”.
The reality star has gone on to create best-selling DVDs and also a diet book.
But there was a time when she overindulged, eating plenty of cheesy pastas and carbonaras — a lifestyle far different from the healthy one she leads today.
However, Charlotte says when it comes to diet, you don’t have to be “stupidly disciplined”.
“It’s about having a balance of everything. It’s important to allow yourself a cheat day or two, otherwise you have more chance of quitting altogether. It’s good to have that one day where you eat what you want because then you work towards it,” Charlotte told NW magazine.
Charlotte said she was finally at a place where she knows “this is the size I am and will be probably for the rest of my life”.
For breakfast, she will eat either fruit, poached eggs or porridge. At lunch she opts for something light such as soup and ends her day with lean meat and vegetables for dinner.
Her previous lifestyle is one she never wishes to revisit, specifically pinpointing series three to seven of Geordie Shore.
“I’m constantly being tagged on Instagram – there’s always a fat one of me,” she told NW magazine.
“I look at those pictures and I feel like it was a sad time – I wasn’t confident and I was always sluggish and tired because my diet was so awful.”
Charlotte has also appeared on Ex on the Beach, Celebs Go Dating, Celebrity Coach Trip and The Charlotte Show – and can now add I’m A Celeb Australia to her long list of reality TV shows.
“I lived in Geordie Shore where we had cameras stuck to every wall of the house, filming 24 hours a day. We didn’t have mobile phones, we couldn’t contact the outside world. So really, 10 years ago starting on Geordie Shore prepared me for stuff that other people on I’m A Celeb might be dealing with for the first time,” she told news.com.au
She said the Aussie reality show would be a “walk in the park”.
“But I’d love to also help anyone in there who’s kind of struggling – I can help them through it and be a shoulder to cry on. It would be able to pass my advice on to other people.”
But while the reality TV aspect of I’m A Celeb clearly doesn’t faze her, Charlotte admitted she’d struggle with the show’s trademark death-defying challenges, insisting she’ll “100 per cent not be able” to complete any challenge involving heights.
It’s been a tumultuous time for Charlotte, who parted ways with fellow reality star boyfriend Josh Ritchie in November after a year together. She said she was looking forward to a forced break from real life in Africa – and might even be open to a jungle romance.
“The jungle is where Tarzan met Jane, isn’t it? So it could be where Charlotte meets … whoever. I can’t rule anything out,” she said.
