Emily Skye has revealed it has taken her almost one year to get fit again following the birth of her second child.

The Aussie fitness star and model, who is the creator of Emily Skye Fit, took to her Instagram over the weekend to open up about her journey.

She told her 2.5 million followers that while she feels fantastic and proud of herself, it hasn’t been an easy ride.

“I STRUGGLED A LOT! IT HAS BEEN HAAAARD WORK,” the Gold Coast trainer wrote.

“Sometimes your body doesn’t seem to be representing your hard work and commitment and you feel like you’re not getting anywhere.”

The mother-of-two said there was a whole month where she felt like she wasn’t changing at all, having described the period as “frustrating”.

“But I knew I just had to keep going and keep working hard.”

The 35-year-old, who gave birth to son Izaac in June last year, said when it came to her diet, she had to become more strict with her food “than I’ve ever been”.

“I make sure I get enough fuel and nutrients but it really does come down to being in calorie deficit. Can’t argue with the science.”

A calorie deficit occurs when the number of calories a person consumes in a day is smaller than the number of calories they burn.

“The thing with consistency is that after a while results start to show in many ways – your fitness, the way you feel and the way you look.”

Emily said for those who want to feel fit and strong, “You can do it.”

She said: “Don’t doubt yourself! It just takes hard work, commitment and consistency. I believe in you just as I believe in myself. You’ve got this!”

Hundreds of fans have bombarded her post thanking the fitness star for being “real” including Aussie singer Ricki Lee.

“You are amazing,” the singer wrote.

“One of the realest women I have on Instagram. Always love everything you say and post,” another follower wrote.

Others commended her on how “strong”, “incredible” and “hot” she looked.

If there is anything her fans have learned, it’s that she never shies away from revealing the “truth” when it comes to her body.

She purposely posts photos showing her differences, to prove no one is perfect – not even social media influencers.

The 35-year-old recently spoke to news.com.au about some of the “hurtful” messages she had from followers about her post-baby body – and wanted to remind women to love themselves and not let anyone negatively influence their relationship with their body.

“RIP fit body, Yuck, Your body is ruined, So much cellulite, Reminds me to never have kids,” were just some of the comments she had received.

“I’ve said this before – I love my body so much and I am grateful for everything it has done for me and my kids,” Emily told news.com.au earlier this year.

But it was a moment straight after giving birth to her son, when she felt the most connected and grateful for her body.

“I always used to be focused on how I looked and wanting to be lean, but now I am obsessed with my body’s functions,” Emily said.

“I made a promise to myself the day I gave birth to my son Izaac that if I were to ever have negative thoughts about my body I’d remind myself of what it’s done for me and how blessed I am.”

Part of the reason for Emily’s huge success and social media following is attributed to her raw and honest posts.

In fact, for her newly created post-pregnancy program, the mother-of-two recorded it in real-time with her post-pregnancy body.

“I want people to go through my journey with me, to see I also struggle, have stretched skin and everything.”

In her post from over the weekend, Emily took the time to thank her followers for their support throughout her journey, “especially my post-natal journey”.

“Being a parent is tough, getting fitter is tough BUT YOU’RE TOUGHER!” she said.
