A husband and father is fighting for his life after suffering a heart attack during the Gold Coast marathon.
Camryn Lloyd was 36km into the 42km marathon on Sunday when he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to hospital.
Kingscliff Church, of which Mr Lloyd is a member, on Tuesday morning said he “is currently in the ICU in critical condition” at Gold Coast University Hospital.
“If there ever was a time to pray it would be now,” they wrote on their Facebook page.
“James 5:16 says that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. These words are not mere words but Cam’s lived reality,” the said, inviting members to a prayer service for Mr Lloyd at their Chinderah church on Tuesday night.
Camryn had been running to raise money for the West Bali Orphanage.
At the time of writing, he’d raised $2275 of his $4000 goal for the orphanage, where he and his family had volunteered last year.
“The Orphanage is run by a beautiful couple who started working there 10 years ago as missionaries but stayed because of the great need and their love to serve other people,” writes Camryn on his Gofundme fundraising page.
“They educate, feed, protect and love 17 young people from all over the 17,500 islands in Indonesia.”
His sister Saffron Lloyd has also organised a Gofundme campaign to support Camryn’s family.
“Cam is a strong, incredible man who has dedicated his life to his family and his God,” writes Saffron.
