Viral $35 Kmart dress shoppers declare they’re ’dying to buy’

Aussies are desperate to get their hands on a new wardrobe item from the budget retailer after it was labelled “perfect” by shoppers.

We’re in the grips of one of the worst economic downturns since the Great Depression, causing Australians to be more mindful of how they spend their money than ever.

But as financial belts tighten, shoppers are sharing ways to buy basics for the cheapest prices, with many turning to Kmart to get their summer essentials.

One wardrobe item in particular from the discount store has shoppers excited – a “perfect” summer dress that costs just $35.

The “Short Sleeve Square Neck Midi Dress” comes in two colours, a green gingham and a floral print, and it’s so popular with customers many are reporting they’ve “struggled” to find it in store.

One Sydney shopper, a teacher who shares her classroom outfits on Instagram, described the gingham number as “the perfect dress”.

While another said she “loved it” because it was flattering and versatile, telling followers to “run to Kmart” to buy it.

There’s been such a positive response to the dress, with Kmart explaining it is because the floaty number can be styled for any occasion

“Our new $35 Square Neck Midi Dress in Green Check touched down this month and is racing out the door,” Jamie Chugg, Kmart’s womenswear buyer, told news.com.au.

“With an on-trend gingham design and soft shirring through the waist, this dress ticks all the boxes in comfort and style in this season’s must have colour of green.”

Jamie added it was an “easy ‘throw on and go’ that can suit any occasion”, suggesting you can wear it with slides and a beautiful straw tote bag for a daytime look or dress it up with a heel and some statement accessories for your next event.

“This dress is a staple for your wardrobe this summer,” she said.

It’s a sentiment shared by many who have taken to social media to share photos and videos in the dress.

“This dress is a must-have summer number,” Instagram user @fashionably_amy declared, with fans quickly flooding her comments section with compliments.

“Wow, this is so cute! I need to go find me one,” one person wrote.

“This green dress is so beautiful and looks amazing on you,” another said.

On TikTok, shoppers were also raving about the dress, with one stating it was a “vibe” in an adorable clip of her twirling in it.

“I’m dying to get this dress,” one user commented.

There were also a lot of fans of the floral version with many labelling it “super cute”.
