Where are the hottest beauty salons on Sydney’s north shore?

WRITER and former Vogue beauty director Sigourney Cantelo has revealed her top picks for beauty treatments on the lower north shore.

WRITER Sigourney Cantelo - a former beauty and health director for Vogue - has revealed her hot spots for beauty treatments on the lower north shore.

Ms Cantelo, who edits the website Beauticate from her North Sydney home, keeps a keen eye on the salons.

The local high streets are packed with hair, nail, massage and tanning salons. And she has chosen some of the best to compile a list of favourites.

Ms Cantelo’s top hair destinations are Wild Life at Milsons Point and a popular chain store in Mosman where customers can be certain of a great blow dry.

“Being a chain of salons, they have a consistent high standard across the board with their blow-dries and colour,” she said of Toni & Guy.

To get a gorgeous glow she recommends Bronzalicious in Neutral Bay where the staff can select the tan according to skin type and colouring.

The Chic clinic in Neutral Bay is her tip for the best manicure and pedicure.

Mosman Remedial Massage is the home of therapist Sharna Shapter, one of the best massage therapists Ms Cantelo has found in Sydney.

And Shambala Day Spa in Mosman is her tip for a ­relaxing treat.

Ms Cantelo was working as beauty and health director for Vogue magazine when she set up Beauticate as a side project.

It became so popular she left the magazine to work on it full time and two years later she has 10 writers contributing reviews around Australia.

“I felt there wasn’t a website that really spoke to me,” Ms Cantelo said.

“I set about creating something and I didn’t expect it to take off as much as it did.”

The website features celebrities including Delta Goodrem, who has revealed her beauty essentials.
