AUSTRALIA’S biggest online sale is about to kick off again, with $100 million worth of deals for the taking. Here’s how to find them.

Click Frenzy’s massive online sale is about to kick off.

HORDES of shoppers are getting their credit cards ready for Australia’s biggest online shopping event, Click Frenzy.

In the hopes of nabbing a television for $25, an Xbox for $3.50 or a PlayStation for $4, bargain hunters are preparing for the 24-hour flash sale that begins at 7pm AEDT on Tuesday, with discounts of up to 99 per cent.

But while the chances of scoring one of these dirt-cheap deals may be slim, there are plenty of serious bargains to be found in the $110 million sale — if you know where to look.

Billed as Australia’s answer to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales in the United States, Click Frenzy is an online flash sale that brings together deals from hundreds of big name retailers in one place.

The site asks people to register in advance in order to access the best deals, which are sent out by email at various intervals throughout the sale period. Subscribers are shown banner ads with the most heavily discounted items and must click to access the deal.

It’s a system that has its flaws, with last November’s sale sparking a mass outcry from shoppers left empty-handed when they tried to buy gadgets, clothing, electronics, computer games, flights and beauty products through the sale.

Shoppers expressed their frustration on social media after missing out on deals that sold out within seconds, attempting to order items only to receive an error message from the vendor.

This time around, Click Frenzy managing director Grant Arnott said the system would be “more transparent”, making the sale process clearer to shoppers — who should nonetheless be prepared for the possibility of disappointment.

HOW TO NAB A DEAL

The most dedicated Click Frenzy shoppers are expected to be trawling for deals on banks of computers with multiple browsers and windows open to maximise their chances.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t nab a bargain, says Finder’s money expert Bessie Hassan.

“To beat the crowds, start browsing before the clock strikes 7pm and if you like it, put it in your basket,” Ms Hassan advised.

“That way, when the sale kicks in, some of your bagged items could become discounted; this gives you a head start to reassess your purchases and check out well ahead of everyone else.”

While you might be more likely to win the lottery than score one of the handful of headline deals, scores of retailers are offering big discounts during the sale — and you don’t have to sign up to Click Frenzy’s database to access them.

Fashion brands like Cotton On, Peter Alexander, The Iconic and Missguided have already started their sales, with 30 to 50 per cent off using coupon codes displayed on their sites.

Ms Hassan said even retailers that were not participating in the official event were rolling out special offers to coincide with the 24-hour sale.

“Although it is a flash sale, take a moment to make sure you’re getting the best deal and compare discounts,” she said.

“A retailer which stocks loads of different brands might be offering 10 per cent off all dresses, but the specific brand itself might have 30 per cent off.”

In case the Clicky Frenzy website crashes like it did in 2012, a full list of deals will be published by Finder at 7pm.
