‘Mortgage free’: NSW man’s $15m lotto win
A Sydney resident who won half of last night’s mammoth $30 million prize has revealed how he plans to spend his new fortune.
A Blacktown man was one of two people to take out the top prize in last night’s $30 million Oz Lotto draw.
The man, who won $15 million, said he said would use the winnings to pay off his mortgage and “embark on an overseas adventure with his wife,” a spokesperson for The Lott said.
The man purchased a three-game System 8 entry via The Lott app and said he could barely believe his eyes when he checked his entry immediately after last night’s draw.
Speaking to an official from The Lott this morning, he said: “Mate, I haven’t slept! I saw the win last night and thought I was losing it!”.
The winner described the money as “life changing”.
“I just never thought I’d see the day when this would happen.”
“The first thing that came to my head last night was, ‘I’m mortgage free’.”
“That is a huge weight off my shoulders and is going to set us up for the future.”
He added that he and his wife hadn’t travelled in years but would enjoy a holiday with the winnings.
“My wife and I are already fantasising about booking an overseas trip,” he said.
“We haven’t travelled in years and don’t know where we want to go yet but we can’t wait.”
